Freja

Freja app UI

Freja is a Swedish mobile eID. Unlike BankID it doesn't need a bank account: anyone can register in the app by submitting an approved identity document, which makes it the main route to a Swedish eID for people who can't get BankID. It's used to log in to services, sign documents and prove identity in person, and it's accepted in Denmark, Norway, Finland and the UK as well as Sweden.

Freja comes in registration levels. A basic registration is enough to log in to many services, but the higher level, Freja eID+, is what unlocks government e-services. Reaching Freja eID+ requires the user to verify their identity in person at one of Freja's agents around Sweden. Freja eID+ is approved by DIGG, the Swedish Agency for Digital Government, at assurance level LOA3.

Freja also offers a separate work identity called OrgID. This lets an employee authenticate or sign on behalf of their organisation, using attributes the organisation controls, while keeping it completely separate from their private Freja identity. OrgID is covered in Freja OrgID.

In eID Hub, Freja is the provider freja and supports both authentication and signing. A completed transaction returns whatever identity information you asked for, which can range from just an email address up to the user's verified name, date of birth, address and Swedish personal number.
