Mobile-ID

Mobile-ID turns a mobile phone into a personal identification document. It's SIM-based: a mobile operator issues a special SIM card that securely stores the user's digital certificates, so there's no card reader, no app to install and no additional software needed on the user's device.

To authenticate, the user enters their phone number and national identity number; the request is pushed to their phone, and they confirm it with their Mobile-ID PIN. A short verification code is shown both on the requesting page and on the user's phone, so they can check the two match before approving.

Mobile-ID is widely used across the Baltics, particularly Estonia and Lithuania, where it's a common method for online identification and digital signing, in both public and private services.

In eID Hub, Mobile-ID is the provider mobileID and supports authentication only.
